Mexico ... I know crazy!

We’re going to Mexico in two weeks. There is a fear for some that we’re not going to be ok. Others have just expressed concern over what’s been happening “down there” and how un-safe it is. I got the “talk” from a friend recently about the dangers and all the nonsense that is taking place. Then the story of the Israelites not entering the promise land came to mind. Ten men said no and Joshua and Caleb said yes. Notice that we know the name of the two who said “let’s go in”! I’m surrounded by both sides. The yes’s and no’s. Most on the high school staff have said absolutely yes! The ones who have said no are my friends. But, I did realize something. Those that said no are people I respect and trust but have a very timid, let’s do the safe thing attitude. My guess is that the older you get the more you can move in that “safe” direction. Now, that’s not true for all people but I have seen that in those that are close with me. Another guess is that working with youth (college and high school) has helped me live risky. That doesn’t mean we just do whatever and not consider the consequences but it does mean that we make decisions based on our faith and trust in Jesus Christ rather than what the “ten men” say. This may sound like I’m brushing them off or I think I have it together and they don’t but it’s not how I feel. I love these people and know that they are wanting what’s best … but I just can’t get that scripture about Josh and Caleb out of my head … so we’re going to Mexico in two weeks.

So ... this caught my attention ...

Received an e-mail today from World Vision. We just finished our 30 hour Famine last month through World Vision. This e-mail brought up the thought "what's next?" They gave a few ideas including this ... http://www.worldvision.org/content.nsf/getinvolved/cg-step1?Open&lpos=lft_txt_Get-Started ... Check it out and be apart! We're planning to pack our care kits June 17th. This kinda stuff moves me ... I love to put my hands on things and help in tangible ways. Thanks World Vision!
