Tuesday ... the night of messy!

Here's what happened on Tuesday @ JCX ...
*Baptism!! Brad, Amiee and Steven all were baptized! That was awesome! They got all wet ... and so did I ... my suit had a leak in it!
*We tore up an old Bible and laid the pages all over the room to remind us that truth is all around and over us.
*Some youth took pages home to read.
*We highlighted a lot of verses that had meaning to us
*We talked about what truth is. It's Jesus by the way ...
*The point of the message was ... what stirs our affections for Jesus and what robs them? If he is our truth then our lives will display who he is and what he does in this world.
*New D-groups are going pretty well. Still some who are uncomfortable. I spoke to them about what it means to build relationships and how we can't run away or sit quietly if relationships are our desire. They agreed, which was cool, and chose to continue to invest in their group. Love that when it happens!
*Kelsey Grubbs came up to chat with me about getting baptized! So great to see God stirring up our hearts!
*Talked about CIY: Move July 20th-25th ... You going? Oh and Hurricane Harbor on June 26th! $20 ...
*Remember the Aids Care Kits on June 17th ... Wednesday afternoon ... Hope you can come!
That's it ... how did you see the night going?

Thoughts about Tuesday ...

Tuesday night @ JCX was a blast! Here’s what I learned about the night that was …

-Chris can dance! Not well but he can dance! Nobody does the head bob quite like that. Although Colton and Matt imitated it well!
-Rob tells it like it is! What are you passionate about? How does that impact others?
-Our worship band always does a great job. Lindsey was sick and could hardly talk but was playing the heck out of that bass (or base or guitar looking thing that, when played, vibrates thet whole room!)
-The group sang with power! It was great to worship through song with them!
-Teaching about encountering Jesus was fun! I’m praying for your encounter with Jesus, that it’s more than just feelings and emotion but true transformation and life!
-Great feedback from a handful of youth and how they enjoyed their new D-group. Their was a few that complained but that’s expected. The groups are design to bring together those of like minds and ask them to journey and encourage each other as they follow the way of Jesus (Phil 2 says that way better than I just did). No judging or condemning, like some have said. Our hope for you is that while you journey with those who are at the same spiritual maturity level as you, you would find others who you are able to journey with and disciple because you are being poured into … so pour out!
-Next week … “What is truth and what does it have to do with me and my life?” will be the focus of our discussion. Plus … first three youth who, together, stand and sing, together, the entire Brady Bunch theme (word for word without messing up) during the first part of main group (when we sit around our D-group tables) will receive a standing ovation and free ice cream! Remember … only the first three!
-Sunday … Gil is teaching one of his favorite Sunday School messages. Be here @ 8:45am.
-CIY Move is open for sign ups and you can hold your spot with a $100 deposit. Do that today because it will fill up fast!
-Hurricane Harbor is coming in June and the cost is $20. Spots are limited to 20 only. Your spot is secure when you pay.
-See ya Sunday … anyone want to bring doughnuts????

FYI ...

*Did you know we're packing Aids Care packages for those suffering in Africa, Asia and Latin America? Serious! You can help! June 17th (Wednesday afternoon) we'll be putting these care packages together @ YCC and sending them off to World Vision. Wanna help? Hope so ... sign up on Sunday or Tuesday! No cost to you and we'll eat together too!
*Hey, you would make a great freshman buddy! All it takes is a willingness to welcome and love on a new frosh. You know how tough it is to join something new don't ya? Help make that move much easier and sign up to be a buddy ... Stephen, Cole, Joey and Maisie already did! You?
*Sunday's coming ... we're talking about baptism: the why, what and how. Have you been baptized yet? Maybe you have! Everyone is welcome to come learn and share! Sunday @ 8:45am.
*Our new D-groups are starting Tuesday! Are you pumped!!?? I am!
Oh, if someone brings doughnuts Sunday morning ... there's a free gift for you on Tuesday night. Let's make that a free gift for you and a friend! So bring doughnuts!

Fake B-days and good food!

Went to Mac Grill tonight with my fam, two leaders and two youth. These two girls raised the most money for the 30 Hour Famine and we wanted to reward their hard work with some good eats! So Mac Grill here we come! Some highlights:

*Discovered there was a "Trio dinner" with salad, main dish and cake! So we all got that!
*We did the "fake B-day" and had a waitress sing happy birthday in Italian
*More cake for the B-day too.
*Drawing on the tables is always a great thing (you’re allowed!)
*The girls we took out are great and I love to have them in group with us.
*Too much chocolate cake isn’t a good thing when you’re full.

I think a dinner out with a few youth each month is something we should do more often. Who wants to go next month? I’ll buy!
