JCX 4/26/11

Who's up for a little JCX re-cap? Anyone?

On Tuesday night at JCX we focused on five disciplines: Forgiving, sharing about our faith, meditation, worship and confession and repentance. Each youth picked which small group they wanted to attend. Here are the details of each one:

Confession and Repentance: We talked about how our direction determines our destination, not our good intentions. Each youth was challenged to face their deep struggle of sin, answer why they really are living in that, how to hand that over to Jesus and live free because they have been forgiven.

Meditation: Eastern meditation teaches you to empty your mind but that’s not what it’s about. Biblical meditation is about filling your mind with scripture so that you have the truth near to you, holding you together. The youth went through a practice of how to meditate and how to respond to what they filled their minds with.

Sharing our faith: In this group the youth were shown the facts of our faith. The leaders took them through how things were written, what they did to make sure they were not misrepresented and how the message of the Bible is the same today.

Forgiving: This was a tough group. Lots of wounded people came to learn what forgiveness really looks like, feels like and how it’s lived out.

Worship: This group spent time reading through scripture and then singing that scripture to the Lord. Each song had a specific posture that the youth would take as they sang.

We will be meeting in these groups for 4 weeks so that every youth will have an opportunity to hear about each discipline.

CIY Move is our summer conference at Point Loma University. The cost is $310 and will include transportation, food and lodging. RSVP today by messaging Mike on Facebook, texting at 951-204-3896 or filling out an RSVP card on Sunday or Tuesday.

This Sunday we will be focusing on how to “live out the scriptures” at 9:30am. Lacey Namoa will be guiding our discussion. Hope you can make it.
